Global automotive supplier DENSO Corporation has evolved a lithium-ion battery power that further boosts the fuel efficiency of vehicles built with stop/start systems. The brand new battery pack allows the stop/start system to utilize more regenerative power than current conventional systems designed to use one particular lead-acid battery. DENSO’s battery pack has a battery management unit and power supply control switch, in addition to battery cells which have been offered by one third-party source.
The revolutionary power supply is air-cooled and for that reason doesn't require an avid battery engine cooling system. While there is no requirement for auxiliary cooling components, this allows battery for being lighter plus more compact. This allows automakers more design flexibility, and that is important for vehicles with short space, DENSO notes.
The pack weighs 2.5 kg and is also 200 × 178 × 70 mm (length × width × height).
DENSO is promoting different types of starters to meet the unique needs of the customers for stop/start systems, such as the Advanced Engagement (AE) Starter; Permanently Engaged (PE) Starter; and Tandem Solenoid (TS) Starter. Also, DENSO created a Cold Storage (CS) Evaporator which enhances the effectiveness of idle-stop, particularly at high temperatures.
